Our commitment to sustainability

Working towards a greener web

We are all aware of the environmental impacts associated with the food we eat, the car we drive and the holidays that we take. But the impacts of our online activities may be less well known.

Every online search and generative AI prompt uses energy, and so does every visit to your site.

We are on a mission to make sure that we minimise the carbon footprint of the websites that we build.

This means we:

  • optimise image file sizes
  • make energy-efficient design choices
  • keep the codebase as streamlined as possible
  • host with providers that run on 100% renewable energy
  • make sure users can get to the content that they need to reduce the number of wasted clicks

We do all of this as standard, without compromising on our high standards of design and functionality. For example, the carbon rating for this website is A+

We also help our clients make informed, sustainable choices.

Our working practices

To minimise our carbon footprint as a business, we:

  • use public transport and travel by bike as much as possible
  • bank with The Cooperative Bank, which has a strong focus on environmental sustainability
  • use sustainable suppliers for our promotional materials – for example we worked with a local printer to create a completely recyclable exhibition stand manufactured from sustainable fibre board
  • Reduce food waste by sharing surplus Pret lunches with our co-working colleagues
  • donate a percentage of our profits to support climate action projects with Ecologi
  • use a small office
  • are thoughtful about the environmental impacts of using AI

Looking to the future

We know there’s more we can do, and we will be putting formal sustainability targets in place. We are open to suggestions from other organisations and to sharing our journey with others.
